A chawan (tea bowl) with a pale pink surface and white glaze decorated with crossing patterns in the Shino manner. This work is by Ichiraku, and although titled a Shino tea bowl, as the artist's name suggests it is fundamentally a Shiraku (white Raku) piece made in the Shino style. The design imitates a Shino tea bowl, and the artist created it as a Shino work.
It bears the poetic name Shoto and comes with its accompanying tomobako (wooden storage box). The box was inscribed and named by the late master Hasegawa Kanshu, elder of Daitoku-ji and abbot of Sangen-in.
