Sengoku-Period Samurai Armor Full Set, Murakami Navy Kobayakawa Takakage Lineage

This is a full set of Japanese samurai armor (yoroi) of the honka type, meaning armor actually worn and used in battle rather than a later decorative reproduction. It dates to the Sengoku period and shows the presence and weight of centuries of survival, with many traces of actual field use visible on the interior of the cuirass and inside the armor chest.

The armor is associated with the retainers of Kobayakawa Takakage, one of the Mori clan and a commander allied with the Murakami Navy of the Seto Inland Sea. The family crest on the armor chest is the Hidari Mitsudomoe (left three-comma design), a crest common to shrine emblems and to Kanmu Heishi warrior families.

Built as a tosei-gusoku suited to naval warfare, the components are basically steel throughout, while the helmet neck guard (shikoro) and shin guards use lightweight, high-defense Iyo neri-gawa (lacquered leather).

Condition: Antique period piece with considerable age-related wear and damage, offered as part of its historical character. Repairs have been carried out while preserving as much of the original material as possible.
