Sekiguchi Sansaku is a Japanese kokeshi artist born in 1925 in Shibukawa City, Gunma Prefecture. He initially pursued Japanese painting and received several honor awards at prefectural art exhibitions between 1951 and 1957, before dedicating himself exclusively to creative kokeshi production from 1958 onward. In 1969 he won the Prime Minister's Award at the National Kokeshi Contest, and in 1978 he was recognized as a Contemporary Master Craftsman (Gendai no Meiko) by the Japanese government. His works are known for original, non-traditional designs, rounded forms, and detailed kimono patterning distinct from regional kokeshi lineages.
