Hanging scroll (kakejiku) by Ota Bunki, painted in the Nihonga (Japanese painting) tradition. The work depicts a bamboo tube vessel and a stone water basin in early spring, rendered in color. Ota Bunki (1831-1904) was born in Tokyo, studied under Nomura Bunkyo of the Shijo school, and became known for his landscape painting. He also used the art name Yoho.
The scroll is presented in a double wooden storage box (nijubako).
