A neriage matcha chawan (tea bowl) by Norio Mizuno, a designated holder of Seto City's Intangible Cultural Property. It is crafted using the demanding neriage technique, in which different colored clays are blended to create beautiful geometric patterns within the clay body itself, resulting in an elegant and highly worked piece.

Norio Mizuno (水野教雄) is a ceramic artist based in Seto, Aichi Prefecture, born in 1950 as the second son of Sokaku Mizuno, the founding master of the family's neriage tradition. He graduated from the sculpture program at Nagoya University of Arts and Sciences in 1972, and after training in glaze research at the Nagoya Institute of Technology's testing laboratory, began his own pottery practice in 1973. He specializes in neriage, a technique of blending different colored clays to create intricate geometric and pictorial patterns. In 2010 he was officially designated a holder of Seto City's Intangible Cultural Property for Neriage Ceramic Art, succeeding the legacy established by his father. His son Tomoro Mizuno and daughter continue related ceramic traditions, making the Mizuno family a three-generation lineage in Seto's neriage pottery.
