A thick mokko-form (quatrefoil) iron tsuba (sword guard) attributed to the Ko-Kinko school, dating to the Momoyama period. The design depicts a scene of waves with an ebune (houseboat with a matting roof) and a sailing ship, together with withered reed-like grasses. The motif offers insight into the folk life of the era and evokes a quiet sense of impermanence, reflecting the modest daily existence of common people during the Sengoku period, apart from the splendor of Momoyama court culture symbolized by Hideyoshi and Nobunaga.

This tsuba comes with an appraisal certificate for sword fittings issued by the NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Token Hozon Kyokai).
