A fine Kamuikotan-ishi (Kamuikotan stone), a celebrated viewing stone from Hokkaido. This example is prized for its rare, well-formed near-cubic shape resembling a die. A deep black stone surface is crossed by powerful natural quartz veins shifting from white to reddish brown, evoking lightning bolts or fissures in the earth. While Kamuikotan stones often take mountain or distant-mountain forms, this stable, cube-like presence stands out on a tokonoma display or a shelf. The stone reveals a different expression from the front, sides, and back, and a gentle hollow on the upper face adds an accent to the scenery. When wetted, the black-green tone deepens and the contrast with the quartz veins becomes more pronounced.

The offered item is the viewing stone together with its dedicated wooden stand. Photos 1 and 6 through 9 show the stone wetted with water.
