An original Meiji-era woodblock print titled "Navy House at Tsukiji" from the series "Illustrated True Views of Famous Places in Tokyo," by Inoue Yasuji (1864-1889). Dated Meiji 17 (c. 1884), it depicts the Navy Ministry of the period in a realistic style, with a delicate impression rendering the texture of snow and a beautiful gradation in the sky.

Inoue Yasuji was a Meiji-period print artist who inherited the kosen-ga (light-ray picture) style of his teacher Kobayashi Kiyochika, capturing the atmosphere of Japan's early modernization. The passage of pigment to the reverse and the character of the washi paper reflect its Meiji-era origin.

Condition: There is age-related toning and foxing, and wear at the corners, consistent with an original print approximately 140 years old.

Framing the work brings out the charm of Meiji-modern aesthetics. Please refer to the photos for the item's current appearance and condition.
