Inoue Yasuji Meiji Woodblock Print Tokyo Shinga Meisho Kanda Myojin Shrine

An original woodblock print by the Meiji-era ukiyo-e artist Inoue Yasuji (also known as Yasuji Tankei), from the series Tokyo Shinga Meisho Zukai (Illustrated Famous Views of Tokyo), depicting Kanda Myojin Shrine. Yasuji faithfully continued the kosen-ga (ray-light print) technique pioneered by his teacher Kobayashi Kiyochika, and this series is among his representative works. On the right side of the print, the signature reading Inoue Yasujiro, Nihonbashi Namiki 29-banchi, his real name and also the publisher, remains clearly visible.

This is a rare period piece dating back over 140 years.

Dimensions: Approx. 16 cm x 10 cm (small format)

Condition: There is one small hole (insect hole or pinhole) of approx. 1 mm near the center of the upper margin, and another small hole of similar size just to the left of the signature characters on the right. There is age-appropriate toning, staining and soiling overall, with slight chipping and creasing at the paper edges. Please refer to the photos for the item's current appearance and condition.
