Yosuke Kojima is a ceramic artist born in 1976 in Ayama-cho (now Iga City), Mie Prefecture, an area famous for Iga-yaki ceramics since the Momoyama period. He graduated from Ueno Technical High School in 1995 and Kyoto Culinary Art College in 1997, before studying pottery under his father, ceramic artist Kenji Kojima. In 2003 he built his own wood-fired kiln in Marubashira, Iga, and became independent. His works, fired in an anagama-style wood kiln, span yakishime, Koraiyaki and gin-sai styles and are highly regarded by professional chefs for complementing food presentation.
