A reproduction woodblock print (mokuhanga) after Hiroshige's "Toto Meisho: Shin-Yoshiwara Asazakura no Zu" (Famous Places of the Eastern Capital: Morning Cherry Blossoms at Shin-Yoshiwara). The scene depicts the cherry blossom season, with an oiran seeing off a morning-departing guest toward the Great Gate while a courier waits. It comes with a frame.

  • Artist / Maker: After Hiroshige; Publisher: Mainichi Art Publishing; Carver: Torao Ishii; Printer: Kenji Seki
  • Subject / Motif: Morning cherry blossoms at Shin-Yoshiwara, with an oiran, a departing guest and a waiting courier
  • Technique: Woodblock print
  • Material: Frame in brown, with mat and frame in subtle, calm tones
  • Included: Frame newly made last year at the studio specifically for this work
  • Condition: Good; condition of the back is good; no stains were visible to me. The actual print shows the cherry blossom colors even more vividly than in the photographs. Note that the photographer is reflected in the glass; please disregard this. Please refer to the photos for the item's current appearance and condition.

To bring out the brilliance of the cherry blossoms, the mat and frame were chosen in subtle, calm tones, making it a fitting piece for this season.
