An antique Japanese calligraphy writing set housed in a maki-e lacquer suzuri box (suzuribako), decorated with peony (botan) and magnolia (taisanboku) motifs in maki-e lacquer.
Included: maki-e lacquer suzuri box, suzuri (inkstone), ink stick by Hu Kaiwen of Huizhou, and shishi lion paperweight (bunshin). Sold as a complete set only. The ink stick made by Hu Kaiwen of Huizhou shows age-related deterioration.
Condition: This is an antique/vintage piece with some wear and soiling. Please refer to the photos for the item's current appearance and condition.
The suzuri (inkstone) and paperweight adorned with a sculpted shishi lion combine functionality with traditional artistry.
