After graduating, he trained in glaze techniques at the Kasama Ceramic Research Institute (Kasama Yogyo Shidojo) and subsequently studied under the potter Hiroshi Komazawa in Kasama. He became an independent artist in 2001 and continues to work in the Kasama pottery area, one of Japan's noted ceramic-producing regions.
