In 1930, he discovered Mino-era Shino pottery shards at Ogaya in Kani, Gifu, proving that Momoyama-period Shino, Ki-Seto, and Seto-guro wares originated in Mino rather than Seto, and he dedicated his life to reviving Shino ware, developing a distinctive style known as 'Arakawa Shino.' He built a kiln at Ogaya and continued producing works, including at the Suigetsu kiln built in 1946.
